Air Spring Solenoid

Air Spring Solenoid

The Air Spring Solenoid is a part of your vehicle's air suspension system. The air suspension system uses air springs that are enclosed in a rubber/plastic membrane. The air spring is inflated or deflated to maintain the car's trim height. The air spring solenoid is a valve that regulates the amount of air in the suspension air springs, based on the height of the vehicle from the ground.

The solenoid is located on top of the air springs, and is connected to the compressor through a pressure line. The solenoid has an electrical line through which it receives the signal to open or close. Thus, the solenoid lets in or releases air from the air spring assembly to bring the car to its normal height from the ground.

If the air spring solenoid fails, it would cause the air suspension to fail. If the solenoid fails to open or close, the compressed air in the wheel would escape or be retained, causing the failed suspension to be stuck in position. This would cause a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) to be displayed in the control unit of your vehicle. If you find that your car has a rough ride on uneven terrain or your suspension is stuck at a particular height, it could be a fault with the air spring solenoid. At Buy Auto Parts we stock a wide variety of air spring solenoids for every car make and model.
