History of Alfa Romeo Cars & Parts
Alfa Romeo is an Italian car manufacturer, established in Milan. It is now owned by Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A. The company was founded in 1910 as A.L.F.A. (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili) and launched its first automobile, the 24 HP, in the same year. The Grand Prix, developed in 1914 for motorsports, was equipped with a 4.5L engine with twin spark ignition. The firm's name was changed to Alfa Romeo in 1920 and the 20-30 HP was the first model to be released under the Alfa Romeo brand. The 430 and 800 trucks were manufactured in the 1940s. In 1954, the company developed the Twin Cam, a series of inline-4 cylinder engines. 1965 saw the introduction of the GTA, a sports car.
In 1975, the Tipo 33TT12 won the "World Champion for Makes" and the Tipo 33SC12 triumphed at "World Championship for Sports Cars" in 1977. Alfa Romeo merged with Fiat's Lancia in 1986 to form Alfa Lancia Industriale S.p.A. Concept cars of the brand such as the Proteo, Issima and Dardo were introduced in the 1990s. The 8C Competizione, which debuted as a concept car in 2003, was released in 2007. The firm has competed successfully in racing events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Formula One.
Some of the current popular Alfa Romeo models include the Stelvio, Giulia, and 4C.
