This compressor will have some oil inside to protect the part during shipping and the time it spends on our shelf, but you would need to drain it and add fresh oil prior to installation. Pretty much any AC parts you can buy today are designed with R134a in mind, since R12 is no longer commercially available. If you can get R12, you can still use this kit, but you would need to use mineral oil rather than the usual PAG AC oil. If you are converting from R12 to R134a, you will need to get new line adapters for the high and low side AC ports, replace the drier filter and flush the system very thoroughly.
