The Saab 900 is a compact executive car manufactured during the years 1978-1998. Saab, a car manufacturer, was formed by Saab AB in the year 1945. The headquarters of the firm were in Trollhattan, Sweden. The first car of the brand, the Saab 92, was released in 1949. Saab AB merged with Scania-Vabis in 1969 to form Saab-Scania AB. In 1991, Saab became the first automaker to introduce CFC-free-air-conditioning. The company ceased production when it was forced to file for bankruptcy in 2011. Notable Saab models include the Sport, 9000 and 9-7X.
The Saab 900 was rolled out in two generations: 1978-1993 and 1994-1998. It was equipped with a 2.0L/2.1L/2.3L I4 or 2.5L V6 engine and featured a 3-speed/4-speed automatic or 4-speed/5-speed manual transmission. The car was selected as the “Best Buy” for 4 consecutive years by “Consumers' Digest”.
