More info

Your car's Catalytic Converter filters harmful pollutants from the engine into cleaner emissions. It is located underneath your car connected to the exhaust system. Its primary function is to convert the three harmful compounds; carbon monoxide, unburnt fuel and nitrogen oxide into carbon dioxide, water, and nitrogen. The hot gases from the engine pass through the exhaust pipes into the catalytic converter. The toxic by-products from the fuel are removed by oxidation and reduction reactions that take place inside the catalytic converter.

Most modern cars are equipped with three-way catalytic converters which have three regulated emissions. The reduction reaction takes place at the first stage followed by oxidation in the second stage. The control system monitors the exhaust stream and uses the information to control the fuel injection system in the third stage. If you find that your exhaust system is leaking or if your car does not pass emissions, you need to check the performance of your car's catalytic converter and get it replaced if it is faulty. Buy Auto Parts sells a wide range of catalytic converters at reasonable prices.
