Engine Control Module Kits

The Engine Control Module Kits (ECM) contain all the components that are needed for your engine control module to work. The engine control module is the central unit that controls the generation and supply of the necessary elements needed for the engine to run - fuel, air and sparks. The ECM does this by controlling a series of actuators and constantly monitoring a network of sensors. The inputs from the sensors in conjunction with the multidimensional performance maps (which are basically data lookup tables) cause the ECM to adjust the performance of the actuators that it controls.

The ECM controls the Air-Fuel ratio in the vehicle by reading the inputs from the throttle position sensor, which determines the extent of the throttle pressure, and the mass flow sensor, which measures the amount of air flowing into the air. These two inputs determine how much fuel needs to be injected into the combustion chamber. The ignition timing, which is the timing of the ignition spark at the right time, is also controlled by the ECM. If the ECM determines that the ignition spark is occurring early, which is a destructive condition called knock, it delays the ignition timing. The ECM also determines the idle speed and maintains the emission standards in your vehicle.

The symptoms of a defective ECM are often difficult to recognize since they are also attributed to faults in other mechanical parts of your car. However, a few common symptoms include the "check engine light" being on even when your car is running or if your vehicle doesn't start even after ensuring that the battery and starter are working correctly. If your car's problems are isolated down to a faulty engine control module, you should replace it at the earliest to avoid more serious risks to your vehicle. At Buy Auto Parts we stock a wide variety of engine control module kits for every car make and model.
