The Intercooler Inlet Hose is a part of your vehicle's turbocharged/supercharged engine. It is the means through which the air, which has been compressed by the turbocharger, enters the intercooler. When the turbocharger compresses the air, the temperature of the air increases, while the density decreases. This low density air will not able to expand enough to allow for proper combustion of the fuel.

The intercooler cools the compressed air and increases its oxygen content and consequently its density. It also ensures that the temperature of the air entering the engine is maintained at a consistent level to ensure that the air-fuel ratio remains at an acceptable level. The intercooler inlet hose carries the hot, low-density air into the intercooler's cooling mechanism. They are usually constructed from heat-resistant materials like silicone and cast alloy.

If there is a leak in the inlet hose, there will be a drop in the boost and a loss of the air intake to the engine. This will cause the air/fuel ratio to drop, causing the engine to run fuel-rich. Owing to the drop in the air intake, the fuel will be incompletely burnt, resulting in the presence of raw fuel in your exhaust. If you find that your intercooler inlet hose is damaged, you should replace it at the earliest to avoid compromising your car's efficiency. At Buy Auto Parts we stock a wide variety of intercooler inlet hoses for every car make and model.
