The Manifold Air Pressure Sensor (MAP) is one of the sensors used by your car's internal combustion engine to control its functions. The main purpose of the MAP sensor is to provide manifold pressure information to the engine control unit. The manifold air pressure sensor is located inside the electronic control system of fuel injected engines.

The measuring element present in the sensor is a silicon chip, which converts engine vacuum/manifold pressure to an electrical signal and finally provides a reading of "engine load". This data is very essential for fuel delivery and timing control. The MAP sensor can be found in the air cleaner, fender wall, firewall, intake manifold or under the dash.
