If the passengers in the cabin demand for lower amounts of cool air, the AC expansion valve shrinks and only a little amount of the refrigerant flows through it. This results with the decreased atmospheric temperature in the surroundings of the passengers. There are three points of pressure in the AC expansion valve so that the amount of refrigerant entering the evaporator is regulated. The three pressure points in the AC expansion valve are the bulb, the evaporator and the spring. To close the AC expansion valve, the spring and the evaporator function in sync. In the same way, the bulb pressure is utilized to open the AC expansion valve. When the bulb pressure is increased, the AC expansion valve is opened.
