More info

The Return Side Steering Hose is a component of your vehicle's power steering system. It is a low pressure hose that carries the fluid from the steering gear/rack back to the pump or to the fluid reservoir. They have a similar construction to that of a high pressure steering hose, but they do not need compression fittings since they carry a low-pressure fluid. The two hoses, high-pressure and low-pressure, work in conjunction to keep the steering fluid flowing to and from the pump to the reservoir.

Owing to their working environment which ranges from the high-temperatures in the engine and other neighboring parts to extremely low temperatures, the return hose is susceptible to damage and wear. A common fault in the hose is a leak in the tubing of the hose. A leaky hose will cause your car's steering system to under-perform. A good indication of a damaged return side steering hose is the color of the leaking fluid. A gray, silver or black fluid indicates the presence of foreign substances in the power steering system.

You should replace a leaky hose at the earliest to avoid subjecting your steering system to further damage. A very soft or hard hose indicates that the hose has reached a point where it can no longer do its job satisfactorily. At Buy Auto Parts we stock a wide variety of return side steering hoses for every car make and model.
