More info

The Turbocharger Turbine Housing is a part of the turbocharger which houses the turbocharger turbine. Its main function is to direct the exhaust gases to enter the turbocharger and to the turbine wheels. In addition, the size and radial shape of the housing also contribute to the performance characteristics of the turbocharger. A single turbocharger can be fitted into various housing options depending on the turbo-output requirements. The turbine wheel converts the exhaust gases into mechanical energy that is used to drive the compressor.

Owing to its functional characteristics, the turbine housing is usually made of steel or iron. It consists of the turbine foot, the outlet connection and the volute. The exhaust gases enter through the turbine foot, a flange that is connected to the exhaust manifold. The gases then flow through the volute across the turbine wheels down to the outlet.

Over time, owing to the high temperature and pressure conditions inside the turbocharger, the housing can become deformed or develop cracks. This, in turn, can lead to extraneous substances like debris and dirt entering the turbo housing from the exhaust manifold. These substances will also affect the turbine wheel causing it to lose power. If you find that your turbocharger turbine housing is showing signs of wear and tear, you should replace it immediately to avoid harming the other components of your turbocharger and reducing the overall efficiency of the turbo. At Buy Auto Parts we stock a wide variety of turbocharger turbine housings for every car make and model.
