Dodge is an American automaker that is a subsidiary of the Chrysler Group LLC. It is based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The company primarily manufactures automobiles, minivans and utility vehicles. It was founded as the Dodge Brothers Company by brothers Horace and John Dodge in 1900. It was initially an auto-parts supplier, providing precision engines and chassis components for Oldsmobile and Ford Motor Company. In 1915, the brothers built their first automobile, the Dodge Model 30. One hundred years ago, the first discount Dodge Parts were still a long time from becoming a reality.
Following the brothers' deaths in 1920, the company passed many hands before it was acquired by Chrysler in 1928. The company continued the production of its original Six and Eight series which remained a part of the Dodge lineup for many years. During the 1930s, Dodge Parts started to become available to drivers all across the United States.
Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1942, the company shut down its passenger-car division and turned to the manufacturing of wartime vehicles. In 1945, after the war, Dodge returned to the auto-market by selling facelifted versions of its existing lineup. In 1950, the Coronet was rolled out. Dodge entered the compact car market with the release of the Lancer in 1961. The Polara and Monaco were released in the late '60s. During the 1980s and 1990s, Dodge established itself as a high-performance automaker with the release of the Daytona and the 600. The decade also saw the release of the Intrepid, Stratus and Neon. In 1998, when Chrysler merged with Daimler-Benz to form DaimlerChrysler, Dodge became the company's low-price and performance division. The formation of DaimlerChrysler ushered in the era of Dodge Parts online. For the first time in history, Dodge Parts could be purchased with the click of a mouse and BuyAutoParts.com has since perfected the process of purchasing Dodge Parts online.
