Your Dodge Avenger gives you pretty good gas mileage, which was one of the main things you were looking for when purchasing a Dodge. So far you have been very satisfied with how great of a car it has been. Lately though you have noticed that your Avenger is losing some power when it accelerates. You are not sure what this could mean and want to make sure you get whatever is wrong repaired before it turns into a bigger problem. Your problem likely could be with your Dodge fuel system and more specifically your Dodge Fuel pump assembly. Let’s take a look at other warning signs.

The first warning sign of a failing Dodge fuel pump is the engine sputtering. You could be driving your Avenger at a consistent high speed for some minutes and then the car can begin to sputter or jerk around before returning to normal. This could mean that your fuel pump is fatigued as it struggles to provide a constant stream of fuel to the engine at the proper pressure. The engine sputter is due to the loss of pressure.

A second warning sign is the one you are already experiencing with your Avenger, losing power while accelerating. Your Avenger may feel this loss of acceleration from a stop. The car could initially move before jerking around or making a noise as if it is going to stall but then it will continue. This could mean that the Dodge fuel pump is not maintaining the required pressure to deliver fuel in a steady manner causing the engine to improperly mix fuel and air and lose power.

A third warning sign is loss of power when the car is under a lot of stress. Like when you have to go up a hill. Generally a Dodge fuel pump can maintain a steady stream of fuel and pressure when operating under normal conditions. But once it is put under stress the weaker elements of the pump will begin to take control and the fuel delivery will not be able to keep up with the demand that this stressful action is causing on the fuel pump.

A fourth symptom is a sudden and powerful movement forward. You could be driving your Avenger at a consistent speed and all of sudden it could feel like you pressed on the accelerator as the car jerks forward. This movement forward is created because the Dodge fuel pump is put into a situation where it cannot draw enough electricity to maintain pressure needed for steady speeds and can have this sudden movement forward as it ramps up the pressure.

The last symptom that can occur is that your engine will not start. This is the most severe symptom of your malfunctioning Dodge fuel pump. This mean that the Dodge fuel pump has malfunctioned to the point that the car no longer starts since there is no fuel reaching the engine upon ignition. Usually you may hear sparks try to ignite but there is no fuel to burn.

Since Dodge fuel pumps are important parts of your Dodge fuel system you want to make sure that you get it checked out when you experience any of the warming signs, hopefully before it gets so severe that your Avenger does not start anymore. We have the Dodge replacement fuel pump that you need. So contact us today to get that Dodge replacement fuel pump before it gets too severe!
