History of Fiat Cars & Parts
Fiat S.P.A is an Italian automobile maker that was established in 1899. It was founded by a group of investors that included Giovanni Agnelli, an Italian entrepreneur. It has its headquarters in Turin. The brand's first car, the 3CV, featured a 2-cylinder, 4.2 HP engine. In 1912, the company released its first displacement-produced car, the Zero, also known as the Fiat 12/15 hp.
After the First World War, Fiat manufactured the 501 in 1919, which was followed by the 505 and 510 in the same year. The '20s saw the brand roll out the 519, a six-cylinder luxury car. In the '30s, the brand released some of its popular models like the 508 Balilla and the 500 Topolino.
The Second World War led Fiat to convert its production to military purposes. Following the death of Agnelli in 1945, the company returned to large-scale car production with the 500B Berlinetta and the 1100S. Fiat released its first diesel powered car, the 1400, in 1953. The 600, the brand's first rear wheel drive car was released in 1955.
In 1969, Fiat acquired Lancia and 50% of the shares in Ferrari. Although the company had a competitive lineup, the oil crisis of 1973 had an adverse effect on its finances. In 1979, however, Fiat became a holding company. The Panda, one of the brand's most successful models, was released in 1980.
Some of the brand's popular models currently include the 124, 500, 500c, 500e, 500x and 500L.
