History of Lexus Cars & Parts
Lexus is the luxury vehicle division of the Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation. Its headquarters are in Nagoya, and was first introduced to the United States in 1989. The history of Lexus can be traced back to 1983 when Toyota founder Eiji Toyoda expressed a desire to manufacture a luxury vehicle to compete with the premium brands of that period. Thus, the top-secret "Project F1" set out to do just that and in 1989, the Lexus 'LS400, a luxury sedan was released at the North American International Auto Show. Along with the LS 400, the company also launched the ES 250, a mid-size luxury sedan in the same year. In 1991, the brand launched its first sports coupe, the SC 400, followed by the 'GS300, a luxury sports sedan, in 1993. Later in the decade, the first discount Lexus parts became available for purchase online. In some ways, the Lexus part marketplace would never be the same.
As Lexus parts started to become more widely available, more models continued to roll off the production lines. The first sports utility vehicle (SUV), the LX 450 was produced in 1996. The RX 300, the brand's first luxury crossover SUV was rolled out in 1998. Lexus rolled out the IS 300 sports sedan in 2000. The brand introduced their first hybrid performance sedan, the GS 450h, in 2006. In 2007, Lexus announced the F-marque, a series of racing-inspired versions of its performance models, the first of which was the IS F. The HS 250h, the world's first hybrid-only luxury vehicle was released in 2009. In early 2011, Lexus began rolling out the four-door hybrid hatchback, CT 200h.
Other popular models include the GX470, ES350 and IS250. Through each successive model, more and more Lexus parts are required to meet customer demand.
