History of Scion Cars & Parts
Scion was a North American subsidiary of the Toyota Motor Corporation. It has its headquarters in Torrance, California. It was established in 2002 to cater to the younger segment of Toyota's North American market. The brand unveiled its first two concept cars "bbX and ccX" at the New York Auto Show in 2002. These two cars later became the Scion xB and tC, and were rolled out in 2003 and 2004, respectively. The xA, which was rolled out in 2003, was a subcompact hatchback that was equipped with 1.5L DOHC I4 engine. The xB was a 5-door compact that had a boxy design.
The TC, which followed in 2004, made its first appearance at the North American International Auto Show. It was a sports compact that had a 3-door liftback body style. The Scion xD replaced the xA in 2007. It is the Scion variant of Toyota's ist and is a 5-door subcompact. It was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show along with the second generation of the xB. The iQ, a city car based on the Toyota model of the same name, was rolled out in 2010. The FR-S is a grand tourer sports coupe that was rolled out in 2012. FR-S stands for Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport. A limited edition of the model, Sc10n Series FR-S, was released for the brand's 10th Anniversary.
As a February 2016 new Scion models are no longer in production. The remaining vehicles like the 86 are under the Toyota umbrella.
