The Intake Manifold is part of your car's engine whose function is to equally distribute the fuel-air mixture to each of the cylinders. Factory made intake manifolds are usually short with narrow intake ports that limit the amount of air/fuel mixture entering the intake ports. High-performance manifolds are longer with wider intake ports, resulting in a higher efficiency.

A leak in the intake manifold can have adverse effects on your car's engine. A leaking manifold will result in the manifold sucking in extra air from outside through the leak. This will cause more air to enter intake ports and disrupt the air-fuel ratio in the cylinders. This reduces the engine's efficiency.
