Suspension Valve

The Suspension Valve is a part of your vehicle's air suspension system. It regulates the air that is fed down the air-lines to the different parts of the air suspension system. The suspension system consists of the air bags (springs), air compressor, air lines, and valves. The main function of the suspension system is to ensure that the vehicle's ride height is at the optimum level and to keep the car from sinking under a load. The compressor feeds dry, compressed air to the air springs through the air lines.

The vehicle's ride height is determined by the manufacturers. The suspension valve is connected to the air spring through the air line. A linkage, connected to the axle, rotates the valve by moving up and down with the axle. When a weight/load is exerted on the vehicle's chassis, the air in the air spring is compressed moving the chassis closer to the axle. This pushes the linkage up which opens the suspension valve to allow air into the spring and restore the ride height. The chassis is pushed up by the air-bags till the linkage has reached neutral position. When the load is removed, the linkage moves down and the suspension valve connects the air spring to the exhaust port, deflating the bag.

The suspension valves can get worn out over time causing your suspension system to falter and eventually fail. They can get blocked or can leak, thereby failing to expel or retain air within the springs, respectively. If you find that your car's chassis does not return to its normal height when a weight is exerted or removed or if you experience a rough ride over a bumpy road, it is a likely indication of a bad suspension valve. You should check and replace the valves at the earliest to avoid damaging your vehicle's suspension. At Buy Auto Parts we stock a wide variety of suspension valves for every car make and model.
