This is a remanufactured genuine Bosch VP44 17X diesel fuel injection pump. This fits all late 1998 (1998.5)-2002 Dodge Ram pickups with the 5.9L 24-valve Cummins turbo diesel engine, 6-speed manual transmission, and the "High Output" package. H.O. trucks have 245 hp (as opposed to 235 hp in the standard truck). If you're unsure about whether or not your truck has the H.O. package, check under the hood; trucks with that option have a "High Output" badge on the valve cover. The 17X pump is commonly used as an upgrade for trucks originally equipped with the 15X and 16X pumps, but keep in mind that if you purchase a 17X with a core deposit, you MUST return a matching 17X core to get that back. The diesel injection pump is a common failure point on the 24v Cummins pickups, usually around the 150k mile mark. For better long-term reliability, replace the in-tank diesel lift pump along with the under-hood injection pump!
