Thank you for your inquiry. The compressor on this listing fits the 1999 Chevy Silverado as long as it is equipped with the HT6 compressor. Per our catalog it looks like the 4.8L takes the HU6 compressor but you would want to check with your dealer or the original unit to be sure.

Every compressor we sell will have some oil inside to protect the part during shipping and the time it spends on our shelf, but you would need to drain it and add fresh oil prior to installation. If you can provide your vehicle information, we can look up the exact type and amount of oil and refrigerant required. Your vehicle should also have a label under the hood with that information as well.

On that generation of GM trucks and SUVs, some models have a pressure sensor on the rear head of the original compressor. If yours does, you would need to remove that sensor and swap it over to your new compressor.
