The Pontiac Grandville is a full-size car manufactured between the years 1971 and 1975. Established in 1926, Pontiac was an automobile division of General Motors' Oakland. Pontiac became popular in the United States after the discontinuation of its parent brand (Oakland). The brand manufactured cars with a straight 6-cylinder engine that produced a horsepower of 40. In 1933, Pontiac cars were equipped with an 8-cylinder engine. The Torpedo and Streamliner, introduced in 1939 and 1941, were the most popular cars of the brand. In 1949, the Chieftain line replaced the Torpedo. These vehicles were built based on the GM B-body platform. The Streamliner was discontinued in 1952 and it was replaced by additional models in the Chieftain line that were based on the GM A-body platform. The firm was phased out in 2010.
