A Steering Rack and Pinion is a type of linear actuator that helps move your car's wheels in the right direction. It converts the steering wheel's circular motion into linear motion. A rack and pinion mechanism is found in most modern cars. It is located between the front wheels. The rack and pinion system is composed of two gears: the rack and pinion. The rack gear is flat and the pinion gear is round.

The car's rack and pinion gear set is a metal tube that has two ends protruding from the tube. The steering shaft has a pinion gear attached to it.
