The Water Pump in the car is a belt-driven device, which transfers the water to the engine from the radiator to keep the engine cool. It is usually located behind the fan belt. The pump's design varies from one car to the other, but the functions are the same. It has several arms, one of which is connected to the radiator and the other to the engine. The rest of the arms are connected to a hollow pipe at the center of the pump. The water pump is powered by centrifugal force.

When the car's engine is turned on, the fan belt starts spinning and the axle at the center of the pump starts turning. This rotary motion of the axle creates suction, helping the pump receive water from the radiator. The axle is connected to a series of vanes, which generate centrifugal force and propel the water to the exterior walls of the pump. If your car's water pump is not functioning properly, the engine will get overheated. You must replace it as soon as possible to avoid engine damage.
