Winnebago Cars & Parts
Winnebago is an American manufacturer of recreational vehicles (RV) and motor-homes. Named after the county in Iowa, the company traces its beginnings to the year 1958, when Forest City, Iowa was on the brink of an economic collapse. The company was founded by John K. Hanson, a Forest City business man who, along with 4 other investors, persuaded a California based company to start a travel trailer industry in the town. The new company got off to a rough start, but eventually succeeded in rolling out its first RV in 1966. The RV was equipped with specialized furniture and a 'thermo Panel', a lightweight side-wall for the vehicles.
The brand named most of its vehicles after Native American tribes such as the Brave, Chieftain, Warrior, and Indian. In 1975, the company released the Minnie Winnie which was based on the Dodge B-series van chassis. The LeSharo, a smaller model that its contemporaries, was rolled out in 1983. It was based on the Renault Traffic van chassis and was equipped with a 2.2L, 4-cylinder motor. The Rialta, which was released first in 1995, was based on the Volkswagen T4 cab. Some of the current models of the Winnebago brand include the Journey, Sightseer and Aspect.
