History of Mercedes Cars & Parts
Mercedes Benz is a subsidiary of the German automobile manufacturer Daimler AG. It was established in 1926 and its headquarters are located in Stuttgart. The brand manufactures luxury automobiles, buses, coaches and trucks. The company started way back at the end of the 19th century. In 1886, Karl Benz produced the first petrol-powered automobile, the Benz Patent Motorwagen. Coincidentally, in the same year, Gottlieb Daimler had created a motorized stagecoach.
Daimler and Benz were initially rivals in the early days of the automobile industry. It was only after the First World War that the two manufacturers joined together owing to poor financial circumstances brought on by the war. This merger was the Daimler-Benz AG. The W02, a mid-size automobile was unveiled at the Berlin Motor Show in 1926. In 1936, the 260 D, the world's first diesel-run passenger car made its debut. Around that time, the demand for Mercedes parts started to grow, although nothing like today.
After a break in automobile production brought on by the Second World War, the company marked its return to the auto-market with the introduction of the 170 V. The 300SL, released in 1954, was the first fuel-injected production model. It was known for its distinctive gull-wing doors.
The S-class series of luxury sedans were introduced in 1972. They were the first to feature an Anti-Lock Braking System, which was rightly considered a cutting-edge breakthrough for the era. The 450SE of the S-class line was named the European Car of the Year in 1974. In 1982, the 190D - also dubbed "Baby Benz" - was the forerunner of the compact segment of the branch. They were replaced by the C-Class line of compact cars in 1993. The ML320, a mid-size SUV, was rolled out in 1997. It won Motor Trend Magazine's 'truck of the Year' award in 1998. It also received the "World Car Award" at Geneva in 1999.
The current line-up of cars include the CLA, GLA, GLC, CLS, E-Class and S-Class. For all of these cars (and older Mercedes Benz autos still on the road), Mercedes parts are essential, and Buy Auto Parts is where you'll find the OEM parts you need.
