The Pontiac Phoenix is a compact car produced during the years 1977-1984. Established in 1926, Pontiac was an automobile division of General Motors' Oakland. Pontiac became popular in the United States after the discontinuation of its parent brand (Oakland). The brand manufactured cars with a straight 6-cylinder engine that produced a horsepower of 40. In 1933, Pontiac cars were equipped with an 8-cylinder engine. The Torpedo and Streamliner, introduced in 1939 and 1941, were the most popular cars of the brand. Pontiac became defunct in 2010.
The Pontiac Phoenix was rolled out in two generations: 1977–1979 and 1980–1984. The car was built on the X-body platform. Phoenix cars were available in coupe, sedan and hatchback body styles. They were equipped with a l4/V6/V8 engine and manual/automatic transmission. In 1985, the Phoenix was replaced by the Gran Arm.
