History of Jeep Trucks & Parts

Jeep is known as one of the most award-winning, reliable brands on the market today, but its roots started before World War II. Jeep is an American automobile manufacturer and a brand name of the Chrysler Group, LLC. It has its headquarters in Toledo, Ohio. The origins of Jeep began when the US Army solicited bids to build a reconnaissance vehicle for WWII. Three companies " Bantam, Willys and Ford "responded to the bids. By 1940, Willys and Ford had produced the Model MB and the Model GPW, respectively. After the war, the company began to consider converting the Jeep for civilian use and in 1945, the company announced its first peacetime model, the CJ-2A. The CJ-3A rolled out in 1947. The year also saw the release of the Jeep Truck, a full-size pickup truck. Around the mid-20th century, the market for discount Jeep parts started to take hold. As the demand for Jeep parts grew, manufacturers (both Jeep and 3rd parties) supplied Jeep owners with the components they needed.

The Wagoneer, the brand's first luxury SUV was rolled out in 1963. In 1966, the Jeepster Commando was released. Owing to poor sales, the brand was taken over by American Motor Corporation (AMC) in 1970. Under AMC, the company rolled out the Jeep Cherokee, a compact SUV in 1984. TheThe  Wrangler, a compact SUV released in 1986, was the last vehicle to be released under AMC, before Chrysler bought it out in 1987. In 1998, Chrysler merged with Daimler-Benz to form DaimlerChrysler. In 2008, DaimlerChrysler sold their share to a private equity company, after which Chrysler and Jeep began to operate under the Chrysler Group. The year 2003 saw the release of the  Liberty, a compact SUV. Upon the release of the Liberty, the demand for online Jeep parts skyrocketed. And that demand continues today for some other models in the Jeep lineup, including the Grand Cherokee, Compass and Renegade.
