The Pontiac brand is known for its history of building muscle cars. Originating in 1907 as the Oakland Car Company, the success of its first Pontiac vehicle in 1926, made way for the name of the brand as we know it today: Pontiac. Models like the GTO and the firebird gave fame to the brand in the 1980’s. Their famous slogan “we build excitement” only fueled the demand for the Pontiac brand surging its popularity.

After many decades of success Pontiac started to see a slowing down of sales. This can be attributed to changing tastes and a lack of differentiation between its models and those of its parent company, GM. The fate of the Pontiac brand suffered during the economic crisis GM experienced during 2008-2009 and GM decided to phase out the brand in 2010, when the last models were made. So you may ask yourself what if my Pontiac Radiator is broken, can I still get a replacement radiator?

Of course you can! Your Pontiac radiator is your heat exchanger so it’s used to transfer thermal energy from one medium to another for the purpose of cooling and heating. Your Pontiac radiator is a source of heat to its environment; it can either be for the purpose of heating or cooling the fluid or coolant supplied to it. Your Pontiac radiator is part of your Pontiac cooling system. The primary job of your Pontiac cooling system is to keep the engine from overheating by transferring heat to the air.

Another important function of your Pontiac cooling system is to allow the engine to heat up as quickly as possible and to keep the engine at a constant temperature. Pontiac cooling systems are going to include your radiators. Most radiators are made of aluminum. Pontiac radiators allow coolant to flow from the inlet to the outlet through many tubes mounted in a parallel arrangement. So keeping your Pontiac radiator maintained is important so that your Pontiac cooling system works properly.

If you notice your Pontiac is running a little warmer than usual then this may indicate a sign that you have a problem with your Pontiac radiator and your Pontiac cooling system may be in jeopardy. If there are any leaks to radiators you will usually notice radiator coolant that is greenish looking on the floor. Another way to detect some malfunction is by smell. The radiator coolant can emit a sulfurous smell, sort of like that rotten egg smell. Remember to never keep running your Pontiac if your Pontiac radiator is overheating.
