ZF PARTS

BuyAutoParts.com offers ZF Steering Pumps and other ZF auto parts. We stock a huge selection of new, OEM, genuine, and aftermarket ZF Steering Pump units at wholesale prices. ZF, also known as ZF Friedrichshafen AG or ZF Group, is a leading global auto-parts manufacturer headquartered in Friedrichshafen, Germany. It was established in 1915 by Ferdinand von Zeppelin. The company was started to supply gears for Zeppelins and other airships. After a few years of its establishment, in 1919, the company started focusing on the automotive market. ZF's business has now extended to various locations across the world in more than 26 countries.

The company has introduced some groundbreaking technologies in its years of history. In 1929, ZF started producing the experimental Aphon transmission. Three years later, in 1932, the brand entered into the production of steering pumps. The company became the first manufacturer to build a fully-synchronized transmission for commercial vehicles in 1953. ZF manufactured the fully-automatic transmission for passenger cars in 1961 while the series production of the same was started in 1969. The company developed the first 5-speed, fully-automatic transmission named the 5HP18 in 1991. ZF was also the first to manufacture the 6-speed, fully-automatic transmission which went on a series production in 2001.

In 2002, the brand introduced a chassis module called the 4-point link, the first of its kind in the world. The next year saw the introduction of active steering systems for passenger cars. By 2006, the company had built the ten-millionth automatic transmission for passenger cars. In 2007, ZF was the first to introduce the 8-speed automatic transmission, the 8HP, which later went on a series production in 2009. This transmission provides a better fuel economy and efficiency compared to standard transmissions.

ZF's current products include transmission, chassis and steering parts for a range of cars and commercial automobiles. The ZF steering pump is often heralded as one of the best in the world. Mercedes, BMW and Audi vehicles use ZF steering pumps, and this speaks volumes about their quality. All of the aforementioned German luxury brands have a different steering feel. BMW and Mercedes are both RWD (Rear-wheel driven), but you would never mistake one for the other. BMW is sporty while Mercedes is plush. Audi, on the other hand, is AWD (All-wheel driven). The ZF steering pump shows its versatility and high performance standard using the Big German 3 as a litmus test.

Another case in point is the Mini - FWD, a 120-horsepower Mini Cooper introduced in the early 2000s. People who have driven one attest to the amazing handling of the compact yet glorified econobox. The secret? Mini Cooper utilizes a ZF steering pump as well, one which rewards the driver with exceptional handling.
