That part number does not match anything we have available, but 82-70032 does have a 36-spline 3/4" input shaft, and it fits a ton of 1970's GM vehicles. This gearbox is pretty common for swaps, and is known as a Saginaw 505.

82-00278 is a steering gearbox, not a pump. 82-00278 AN is a brand new, stock replacement gearbox with no core deposit. 82-00278 R, Q2, Q3 and Q4 are remanufactured and will have a core deposit applied at checkout. The core deposit is fully refundable if you return your original gearbox to us, and we will include a prepaid return shipping label in the box.

Yes, this gearbox (82-00278) fits all 1964-1976 Chevelle with factory power steering. It's supposed to fit and feel just like OEM, but it will likely feel firmer and tighter than your worn-out original gearbox.

The input shaft is 0.8" in diameter, and has 31 splines. Don't have a spline count for the output shaft, but it's 1.25" in diameter.

We don't regularly carry a quick-ratio version of this gearbox, but if you send us a direct email via the "Contact Us" link, we can check with our rebuilder to see if that's something they can make so we can add it to our catalog.

This gearbox fits just like OEM, so it'll fit either your original pitman arm or any other stock replacement. What exact vehicle do you have? We can check to see if we have a pitman arm available.

A quick-ratio steering gearbox means that the front wheels will turn more, using the same amount of steering input. The total range of motion is unaffected, so it's not like your wheels will turn any sharper. This is a common upgrade on older vehicles because a quick-ratio box will bolt up like OEM, but the steering response will be a little quicker, so the handling will be improved, especially if your original gearbox is worn-out.

This gearbox (82-70032R and 82-70032AN) is a stock replacement, with the same 24:1 steering ratio as OEM. We have a quick ratio 16:1 version available here:

82-70032 has a 3/4" 36 spline input shaft. The input shaft is fully splined, meaning there is no flat spot on the circumfrence of the shaft. We have a coupler that matches it available here:

This quick-ratio gearbox (82-70032 NQ) has a 16:1 steering ratio (about 4.5 turns lock-to-lock), versus 24:1 (6.5 LTL) for the original box.

Thank you for your inquiry. The input shaft is splined and grooved. It has 0.875 inches diameter with 31 spline count. While the ouput shaft is 0.864 inches diameter. The pressure port thread size is 11/16 - 18 and the return port thread size is 5/8 -18.
