Thanks for contacting us be we do not have that information. This gear box is meant to be a direct fit as long as this is what originally came in your vehicle. I can say that this is a Saginaw style box with a 13/16" input shaft.

The 2.5 LTL is a 10:1 ratio and the 14:1 ratio is a 3.5 LTL. The 2.5LTL (10:1) is the quicker of the two.

We would absolutely need to know what gearbox you are returning before we can let you know if it would work as a core or not. If you can locate any part numbers off your original gearbox, we can try looking them up to see if they match anything we have available.

Like any power steering gearbox, they each have two line ports; one pressure line, one return line.

No, this gearbox (82-00357) is for models a little newer than yours. The only way to find the correct gearbox for your 1966 would be to look up any casting numbers off your original gearbox.

82-00537 R is a remanufactured OEM gearbox, and 82-00357 AN is a brand new gearbox that fits and performs just like OEM. They both have a 13/16" input shaft and a steering ratio of 4 turns lock-to-lock. 82-00357 QR is an OEM gearbox that has been remanufactured with different internal gears for a quicker 2.75 LTL steering ratio, to provide faster steering response.

That's an oversight on our part; we don't have the 1971-1973 Cougar listed for the fitment of 82-00357 QR (the quick-ratio version) but we do have it listed under 82-00357 R (remanufactured OEM) and 82-00357 AN (brand new aftermarket). Since all three of these gearboxes fit identically, 82-00357 QR should fit your 1972 Cougar without any issues; apologies for the inconvenience.
