80-00697 fits all 1996-2002 4Runner. 80-00697 R is a remanufactured OEM steering rack. 80-00697 AN is a brand new aftermarket part. Both of them are guaranteed to fit and perform identically, just like OEM, and are both backed by a three-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

You can wiggle them with the truck parked to see if they have any excess play. If you're replacing your steering rack anyway, you might as well replace the outer tie rod ends at the same time; they're relatively inexpensive, they are a maintenance/wear item, and it's the same amount of labor, so it just makes sense to replace them along with the steering rack.

This steering rack (80-00697 AN) is our own brand, which we manufacture. It's guaranteed to fit and function just like OEM, and is backed by a three year, unlimited mileage warranty.

This steering rack includes the inner tie rod ends, but not the outers. We do reccomend replacing them at the same time, and the only reason we do not include them is because this rack (80-00697 AN) fits 1995-2004 Tacoma and 1996-2002 4Runner, both of which use different tie rod ends.

This steering rack (80-00697) fits all 1995-2004 Toyota Tacoma 4WD & PreRunner, regardless of the exact production date. If yours is actually badged as a Tacoma, this will fit, but the older truck (just called Toyota Truck or Toyota Pickup) was also sold in model year 1995, which may have caused some confusion - this will not fit a "Pre-Tacoma" pickup.
