Blower Motor Regulator

Blower Motor Regulator

The Blower Motor Regulator controls the speed of the blower motor in your vehicle's heating system. The regulator consists of a set of three resistors or terminals that generate a voltage to vary the speed of the motor. Each speed setting of the fan causes the current to flow through a combination of the resistors. The highest speed setting causes the current to bypass all the resistors, causing the maximum current to flow to the motor.

If the blower motor regulator fails, the blower motor fail to switch speeds when the regulator is adjusted. When the resistors fail, the current flowing through them will exceed the set value and will make the fan run at a higher speed irrespective of the fan setting. A faulty regulator will also cause a reduced airflow if the resistors are not receiving the full power needed for a particular speed setting.

If your car's fan doesn't turn on or runs only at certain speed settings, it could be because of a failed blower motor regulator. You should replace a faulty blower motor regulator at the earliest to avoid any further damage to your car's heating system. At Buy Auto Parts we stock a wide variety of blower motor regulators for every car make and model.
