The Jaguar XKR is a grand tourer produced since 1996. Jaguar Cars Ltd was started as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922. Ford Motor Co. purchased the company in 1989. It is headquartered in Whitley, Coventry, United Kingdom. Jaguar released its first car in the year 1931. The brand obtained the name, Jaguar because of its sleek styling, speed and performance. The Jaguar XKR produced from 1996 to 2006 was the first car in the Jaguar line-up to have the V8 engine - the AJ-V8. The new XKR was designed by Ian Callum, the British car designer who is now the Director of Design for Jaguar Cars. It was rolled out in the Frankfurt Motor Show held in 2005. The XKR has provided top speeds of 174mph and 158mph. The faster XKR-S was released in 2012.
