The firm was a division of Ford Motor Company and its headquarters were located in Michigan, United States. There were two models introduced by Merkur: XR4TI (1985-1989) and Scorpio (1987-1989). The company was defunct in the year 1989.
The Merkur Scorpio was available as a 5-door hatchback. The car was a modified version of the Ford Scorpio. It was equipped with a 2.9L Cologne V6 engine and a T-9 5-speed manual transmission. The engine generated a horsepower of 144.
