I was told by my mechanic that the compressor that came with my 2011 Sonata works with it a sensor that tells it when to cool and the sensor sometimes works irregularly. That I would need a manual compressor that will always be on and thereby cool better.I live in Africa so the weather is very hot. Is there any truth in this?1

Thank you for your inquiry. Regardless of where you live the compressor that originally came equipped with the vehicle should work adequately. If you are having an issue with cooling it may be that there is a problem somewhere in the system or the compressor is bad. We would need to physically inspect the vehicle in order for us to provide any repair recommendations.
