The Fuel Filter Kit contains all the components of your vehicle's fuel fiter system. This includes the fuel filter, fuel pump strainer, fuel-water separators, water collection bowl, and water-in-fuel sensors. In order for engine to run at full effiency, the fuel that is fed to it needs to be free of contaminants and free of disruptive elements like water and rust. If these contaminants come in contact with the moving parts of your engine, they will have an abrasive effect on the moving surfaces, causing them to wear out. The filter system of your car purifies the fuel by separating the water from it and removing foriegn substances like paint chips and rust.
A fuel filter consists of a heat-resistant mesh that is housed in plastic or metal. The fuel flows through this mesh through an inlet and is sent down the fuel line after filtering. The filter kit also includes a water-fuel separator that separates the water from the fuel. As water is denser than the fuel, it descends to the bottom of the water bowl from where it can be drained through a valve opening. The presence of water in the fuel is indicated by a water-in-fuel (WIF) sensor through an electronic signal either to the ECU or as a warning light on the driver's dashboard. The fuel filter system in your car needs to be checked regularly to ensure that there is no clogging in the filters. A clogged filter would result in a lowered efficiency of your engine as the fuel supply would be affected when it flows through a clogged filter.
If your engine stalls or has a rough idle, it is likely because of a clogged filter. A faulty water fuel separator will cause your engine to sputter and accelerate slowly when the throttle is pressed. If your car displays any of these symptoms, you should check your car's fuel filter system and replace any parts that might be defective.
