The Air Conditioning Receiver Drier is located on the high pressure side of the system, between the condenser and expansion valve. Its function is to store the oil and refrigerant when they are not used by the AC system. It is also used to remove moisture from the system. The receiver drier has a filter and desiccant in it. The filter is used to collect the trap waste inside the air conditioning system while the desiccant is used to absorb the moisture.

The liquid refrigerant enters the receiver and settles at the bottom. A pick up tube is used to draw the refrigerant from the bottom and pass it through the expansion valve.
