This compressor (60-01017 R1) is a remanufactured genuine OEM York Mini 209 compressor, and it fits all US-spec 1980-1983 320i originally equipped with the York. Pretty much any AC parts you can buy today are designed with R134a in mind, since R12 is no longer commercially available. If you can get R12, you can still use this compressor, but you would need to use mineral oil rather than the standard PAG AC oil. If you are converting from R12 to R134a, you will need to get new line adapters for the high and low side AC ports, replace the drier filter and flush the system very thoroughly.
