Intercooler

The Intercooler in your car is a mechanical device similar to a radiator, which is used to cool the fluid, liquid or gas between the stages of a multi-stage heating process. Its purpose is to cool the air that has already been compressed in a supercharger. It is mounted between the turbo or supercharger and the intake manifold. The hot air from the turbo passes through the intercooler, where it becomes denser and oxygen rich, helping the engine gain power.

There are two types of intercoolers, namely, air-to-air intercooler and air-to-liquid intercooler. The outside air enters the air intake valve and passes through the internal chambers of the intercooler and the cooling fins. The fins in the intercooler remove heat by transferring it to the exterior. Then the air is sent to the turbo of your car.
