How To Evacuate AC System

The AC system in your automobile circulates the refrigerant through various components such as the compressor, condenser and evaporator to cool the vehicle's passenger compartment. Even when a single unit malfunctions, the cooling process will get affected. The AC system needs to be evacuated when the AC pipes are replaced or the system is recharged. The video below shows you the procedure to evacuate an AC system using a vacuum pump.

Video Transcript:

Now, we're gonna evacuate the system. With both of the couplers installed and both of your valves open all the way, you can hook up to your vacuum pump and turn it on. Now, notice on the low side gauge, it sets to draw vacuum. We need to leave the vacuum pump on for approximately 30 minutes to an hour. After you pull the deep vacuum on the system, you're ready to recharge the system.
