For those of you not from San Diego, or into science fiction, comic books or big budget movies, you may have never heard of Comic Con. But we are a San Diego based company and when Comic Con International comes to town, everyone in San Diego gets excited. Think about it, we have international powerhouse brands and celebrities displaying their next big project in our backyard (technically it is at the San Diego Convention Center and surrounding hotels), why would we not be excited!
Comic Con 2012 had 130,000 attendees and this year’s event sold out in about 93 minutes. According to Forbes Magazine, Comic Con International in San Diego is the largest event of its kind in the world. For all of us local San Diegans it is one of our claims to fame on the international stage and the convention brings thousands of tourists to our city from all over the world.
Comic Con has everything from celebrity panels, movie previews, educational Q&A’s, comic book events and so much more! Big Hollywood productions like “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will be hosting huge promotional screenings and panels this year and TV show crowd favorites like “Sons of Anarchy”, “Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “How I Met Your Mother” will also be presenting.
What makes Comic Con even more awesome is that there are some pretty amazing custom car displays and auctions. DC Comics is displaying a Justice League car for this year’s event on a Kia Sorrento that was customized in conjunction with Kia Motors America.
This is just one of a long list of DC Comics inspired Kia customized cars that will be on display this weekend. Some other notable vehicles on display are the Superman themed Kia Optima Hybrid and the Wonder Woman Kia Sportage. Another great thing about these Kia vehicles is that they will be auctioned off and proceeds will be used for its We Can Be Heroes fundraising campaign to fight famine in Africa.
Are any of you planning on attending the convention this weekend?
