January 8, 2013 - Ford has come out with nine new apps for the Sync AppLink. They are going to introduce the new apps tomorrow at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas. The nine new apps fall into four different categories.
News - The below apps will read the news to a Ford Driver through the car speakers. Always safer than unfolding the USA Today while commuting to work. Especially, when you are already enjoying a cup of coffee and putting on your make-up. Look at the road people!
- The Wall Street Journal
- USA Today
- Kaliki
Music – Although most people will probably just stick to their iPods, these music apps may entertain some drivers. Greater Media allows a person to stream radio stations across the country. Which could be beneficial if you moved recently and want to hear some of your old hometown DJs, or sports talk radio personalities.
- Amazon Cloud Player
- Aha Radio
- Rhapsody
- Greater Media
Navigation and Location – The below app gives you the power to allow your friends and family to know your location so they can get an estimated time of your arrival. This is also another great way for parents to keep tabs on their kids when they take the car out for the night. Kids got it pretty rough these days, with trackable cell phones and now cars.
- Glympse
Entertainment – If you are looking to entertain that special someone, than this is the app for you. BeCouply suggests where to go on dates. I am sure your girlfriend would love to know you found a great place for Valentine’s Day from your Ford.

Ford also announced the launch of The Ford Developer Program. This allows third party developers to create apps to work on the Ford AppLink program. Ford will get final approval on the apps created and submitted. This means a whole lot more apps are on their way; more music apps to not listen to and more ways to track the kids. Sounds like a good time!
